Our Story
Duncan de Klerk, founder of Airabica Roasters, has a rich background that blends technology, entrepreneurship, and a passion for coffee. His journey into coffee began in 2006, when he developed an interest in crafting his own espresso-based drinks and fell in love with the intricate world of coffee. This passion sparked a never-ending journey of experimentation with the goal of achieving the perfect brew.
To gain more control over the end result and share his love for coffee, Duncan realized the need for his own roaster. After extensive research, he chose an air roaster (fluid bed roaster) due to its sustainability benefits and unique roasting characteristics. In 2019, Duncan and his wife established Airabica Roasters, an artisan roastery that focuses on roasting high-quality beans and supporting new coffee establishments through consulting services, equipment supply, and barista training.
We are also passionate about conserving the environment e.g. using renewable energy(solar) to roast, recyclable packaging.
We also aim to support the local community e.g. manufacturers [Airmotion, Henlo espresso machines], South African farmers
