Additional Information

Origin

“Colibri Esmeralda Opalaca” (Opalaca Emerald Hummingbird) is one of INLOHER’s distinct regional flavor classifications from the Opalaca mountain range.

Honduras is a very suitable location for growing and harvesting coffee. The soil, climate, and general conditions in Honduras are the same as those of the neighboring countries. Honduras produces a range of qualities in coffee.

In years gone by it was only known for commercial grade coffee. However, in more recent years, they have had a significant drive to improve quality which is evident by the great coffees being produced.

Producer

INLOHER Coffee is an export company and wet mill (beneficio) founded in 2009 in Lepaera, Lempira, Honduras. They work closely with local smallholder families, prioritizing sustainability and community development.

Processing

Washed Arabica Coffee. The “washed” process means the coffee fruit pulp was stripped away before drying, which typically produces a very clean, bright, and articulate cup profile.

SHG (Strictly High Grown) – This designation means the coffee was grown at a high altitude, typically above 1,200 to 1,350 meters above sea level. High altitudes cause coffee cherries to mature more slowly, resulting in a denser bean with more complex sugars and desirable acidity.

EP (European Preparation) – This indicates a strict sorting standard. The beans are hand-sorted to ensure an extremely low tolerance for defects and inconsistent bean sizes before export.

Bean Description

Honduran SHG coffees from the Lempira region generally offer a medium body with balanced, sweet, and comforting tones. You can typically expect notes of milk chocolate, brown sugar, and hazelnut, accented by a clean, smooth finish.

Harvest Period

December to April. (Crop year 2025/2026)
