Processing and Category
Grown in Bugisu sub-region of Eastern Uganda. The coffee grown at high altitudes between 1700 and 1850 masl. The unusual processing protocol of this coffee produces a distinct cup profile: rum and raisins, juicy, grape, sweet, malic acidity, creamy body.
The Mount Elgon mountains on the eastern border of Uganda and Paida, in the north. They were always blended together and just called Bugisu coffees for export purposes. This is the Uganda government’s export name for washed arabica coffees. Specialty operators like Falcon started separating coffees by quality and the higher altitude. The higher quality coffees all came from the Mount Elgon region. So while still a Bugisu, the type name Mount Elgon is used to denote a higher quality of coffee within the generic Bugisu category of washed coffees.

Producer
This coffee is comes from Mr Picasso Nduwayo, a Burundian coffee producer based at Manafwa on the south side of Mount Elgon. Supplies to Kayombe Washing Station.
Picasso has been producing some of the best coffees coming out of Burundi for the last ten years. Given the fortuitous season timings between Uganda and Burundi, we are very happy he is able to turn his experienced hand to producing quality lots from Mount Elgon.
