Origins
The coffee was grown by the smallholder farmers of Sanka cooperative living around the village of Sheko in the Bench Maji region. Bench Maji has relatively untouched ancient forests. While deforestation influenced other parts of Ethiopia, Bench Maji remarkably remained unharmed. Bench Maji is the zone where the Gesha variety was discovered.
